Holiday Liquidation Goods Are About to Get Cheaper
Monday, January 26th, 2009If your business specializes in holiday sales, you are about to hit the jackpot for your buying season.
This year, holiday sales were not nearly as high as people had hoped they would be. While they stocked for a less-than-perfect season, they still ended up with a lot more than they had expected to have once the holiday shopping season was over. This means that there will be a lot of seasonal items going into the liquidation industry in the next few weeks.
While retail stores are working to get rid of all those holiday goods, they are not all going to sell. That means in the coming weeks they will give up on their sales options and instead decide to move all of those old season items out so they can move new seasonal items (like Valentine’s Day goods) in.
This is when those Christmas items will be boxed up and shipped out to liquidation warehouses to be sold off.
If it were just one store doing this the prices for these items would not shift too much. But, it is not just one store. All the retail stores in towns across the country are finding themselves in the same situation at the same time. This means liquidation auction houses are finding themselves overwhelmed with seasonal goods that need to fine a new home.
The auction houses are listing the items they have as quickly as they can, and this means it’s a great time for you to start shopping for all the holiday goods that you will be able to sell next year.
Look Before You Buy
The biggest key that you need to keep in mind when it comes to this type of auction purchasing is to look around before you decide to buy. Remember, there are a lot of auction lots out there this time of year, selling similar items. You should compare and contrast what is being sold to make sure you get just what you want and don’t end up buying more than you need of anything.
Also, it’s important to pick a budget and stick to it. It’s really tempting to keep buying every time you see something that looks great, but you can soon get way over budget and have turned something good into something that becomes stressful to your bottom line. Remember, holiday goods will likely be sitting around for almost a year before you can sell them again, don’t purchase more than you can afford or store.
